Riso Zine Workshop

  • Toogs Artist Workshop Shetland, Scotland, ZE2 9LD United Kingdom (map)

Get to grips with RISO printing and explore the joy of making zines in this hands-on workshop. We will unpack the wonders of the RISO stencil duplicator and explore examples of how these machines have been used to make some exciting and inspirational zines, taking a dive into the Island Zine Library at the Toogs Artist Workshop.

Workshop Outline

After an introduction to the RISO duplicator, we will dive into the world of DIY publishing and Zines. We’ll make a quick collaborative zine together before focusing on your own two colour magic zine you will print and fold on the day!

What to expect

Unlike digital printing, this workshop celebrates the craft of manual, analogue techniques. You'll use the integrated flatbed scanner to transform your handmade creations into print-ready designs right on the machine—no digital artwork preparation needed!

Each session is led by two experienced Gaada printmakers who will guide you through every step, from creating your image and getting to grips with the equipment, to printing your final 2 colour edition.

This session also acts as an induction to the RISO area of the Workshop, which enables you to continue learning through Open Access Sessions at the Toogs Artist Workshop.
