Gaada’s latest donation to MAP — thanks to the Shetland Gay Bird Club editions

We’re delighted to share an update on our ongoing support for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), made possible through the continued success of the Shetland Gay Bird Club editions in the Gaada shop.

Our latest donation totals £710, raised through steady sales of the editions both online and in the workshop. This builds on our earlier Pride donation of £313.82, and together your support has pushed the project past the £1,000 mark. We’re so grateful to everyone who has kept this momentum going.

Continuing support beyond Pride

The 2025 Shetland Gay Bird Club designs — from T-shirts and totes to prints and zines — have travelled far beyond Pride, finding their way into homes across Shetland and further afield. Every purchase has helped build this latest donation.

Alongside these sales, Gaada also contributed publications to the Palestinian Solidarity Shetland art sale held in June 2025, which in total raised over £10,000 for various Palestinian causes!!! Together, these efforts reflect a real commitment from Shetlanders to creative activism and international solidarity wherever we can offer it.

Why these editions matter

MAP provides critical medical aid and support to Palestinians living through urgent and worsening humanitarian conditions. By donating all profits from the Shetland Gay Bird Club editions, we’re able to link our independent creative practice with meaningful, real-world impact!

What began as a playful celebration of queer joy, bird appreciation and Shetland’s unique sense of humour has grown into a project that channels this energy into positive action. The enthusiasm people have shown for these items shows how art and community can work together in powerful ways.

What’s next

The Shetland Gay Bird Club 2025 editions remain available through our online Shop, and we’ll continue donating all profits from their sales to MAP. If you’ve missed our Pride stall, you can still pick up T-shirts, totes and prints while supporting an essential humanitarian cause.

We want to extend our warmest thanks to everyone who has bought an edition, visited our stall or helped spread the word. Your support is what makes these donations possible.

Together we’re showing how creativity, humour and care for others can create real impact. Thank you — and keep an eye out for new Shetland Gay Bird Club editions coming in 2026…..
