Riso Editions for Public House

Gaada is an artist lead organisation, which means sometimes opportunities for the artists that run Gaada can also be opportunities for the organisation as a whole.

Recently, our co-director and artist Amy Gear was commissioned to create a riso edition of prints for new artist lead space in Birmingham Public House. Public House were also commissioning a Leeds based Artist Emii Alrai to create a riso edition, so we were delighted when Public House asked Gaada to produce both editions. We worked closely with Public House and Emii remotely to make sure we could get the correct tones, special paper and punchy ink that married well with her sculptural practice. Meanwhile, Amy worked on her riso seperations at the weekends, and Daniel made some tests to make sure we could get the perfect ‘bruisey’ tones for her edition.

The fee for production went into Gaada’s running costs, while Amy got a separate artist fee for creating new work.

Both Emii and Amy’s editions are now available through Public House's website, and you can follow them on social media.

Thanks Public House! We hope we get a chance to work with you again in the future!
