Gaada is excited to have reaffirmed core funding support from Creative Scotland and Shetland Charitable Trust for it’s 2023/24 visual art programme

Happy Summer! We will be taking a short break from 3rd - 24th July. Before we head off for summer break, we wanted to share the wealth of happenings at the Toogs Artist Workshop. We have had such a busy year so far, and we can’t quite believe that we’re not even half way through!

Gaada has been included as a case study in a practical guide to Fair Work which has been published today by Culture Radar and Creative Scotland.

It’s official. Gaada has purchased it’s formerly leased building, Da Auld Methodist Kirk. As of today the building has formally been renamed Toogs Artist Workshop, ahead of the Workshop’s relaunch in the coming months.

We have recently hosted Assemble in Shetland to begin the intial phase to transform Gaada’s current building into an ambitious and accessible artist-run making facility and project space.

Jono Sandilands’ Foula Beans fundraiser has raised a grand total of £1000 for the Shetland Foodbank.

Gaada is very excited to share that our Director Helen Nisbet will be a judge for The Turner Prize 2023, hosted at Towner Gallery in Eastbourne.

Between 19th August - 29th October, Glasgow Women’s Library are exhibiting artwork from Gaada’s 2020/21 Weemin’s Wark programme.

Gaada has been collaborating with 86 young artist who attend Hamnavoe Primary School on an exciting new project.
